SheetChef (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a local-first data-cleaning app that lets you build reusable “recipes” for your CSV/XLSX files. Our core promise: your spreadsheet data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly choose server processing (coming soon).

2. What we collect

We only collect the minimum data needed to provide and improve SheetChef.

• Files: All file processing happens locally in your browser. We don’t upload, read, or store your spreadsheets.
• Recipes: Recipe names, steps, and metadata are stored securely in the cloud so you can reuse them across sessions and devices.
• Accounts: When you sign up, we collect your email and authentication data to manage your account.
• Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand app usage. IP addresses may be used temporarily for rate‑limiting and security.
• Cookies/local storage: Used only for session management and remembering your preferences. No ad or tracking cookies.

3. Server‑side processing (future)

If you choose to run a recipe in server mode, your file will be uploaded temporarily for processing. Files are automatically deleted after the job is complete. The same privacy principles apply — no one sees your data, and it’s never shared or sold.

4. Payments and third‑party services

When we introduce paid features, payments will be handled by trusted third‑party providers (like Stripe). We never store your card details — those are processed directly by the payment gateway.

We may also use third‑party services for analytics, authentication, and email communication. These services only receive data necessary to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy terms.

• View and delete your recipes anytime.
• Request account deletion — this removes your account and associated metadata from our systems.
• Opt out of analytics by using browser privacy settings or extensions.

We retain account and recipe metadata as long as your account is active. Temporary data (e.g., server‑mode uploads) is deleted automatically after processing.
