About SheetChef

Messy spreadsheets happen. I watched my wife spend an evening masking personal data—cell by cell—for 200 rows. No formulas. No shortcuts. Just grit. It clicked: most of us repeat small cleanups on files that look the same every week. If the structure repeats, why can’t the cleanup repeat too?

Many of us struggle with Excel formulas or navigating through complex tools that promise “data power” but feel overwhelming when all you want is to fix a few rows. You open the app, try to remember what =LEFT() or =SPLIT() does, end up watching a YouTube tutorial, and still manually clean that export from your payment system or survey form. It shouldn’t have to be that hard.

That’s why we built SheetChef: a mini ETL for everyday exports. You pick a few simple steps—drop columns, rename, standardize dates/phones, mask emails, dedupe—and save them as a recipe. Next time a similar file lands in your inbox, run the recipe and you’re done.

  • File in → clean out. CSV/XLSX in, tidy file out.
  • Recipes, not rework. Clean once, rerun forever.
  • Local-first. Your data stays in the browser by default.
